Trials of Public Transportation

I’m having a bad day. I usually get home at 7:30 pm. Today, my train was delayed, my connection cancelled, and the second connection was also delayed by 40 minutes. After all of this, I arrive home at 9:15 stressed and needing to unwind. Usually, my commute is where I get to unwind with a book, some music, a crossword, or any number of other activities. As I stood there on the train platform, stomach grumbling, pacing back and forth, I wanted nothing more than to smash some stuff to make myself feel better or have a stiff drink. Unfortunately, there aren’t really very many opportunities to smash objects on a platform in a train station and there were no alcohol carts in sight so I just paced back and forth. I have learned something from all of this, however, and that is to always have an emergency granola bar handy in case of delays and hunger emergency. It was a bad end to an otherwise uneventful and typical day.
