Dog collars have a function, but are also purchased to compliment the dog or dog owner’s personality.  The first thing to consider is the function and safety of any collar.  Will the collar be worn for everyday wear, or will it be only worn for a few hours at a time?  Will the collar be worn in the house, or outside?  Some dog collars have a specific training purpose and should be used consistently when training.  These considerations can dictate what material a collar should be made from.  Should it be material or leather?  Should it be a fancy collar or simply sport a monogram?  Of course, we can’t forget to mention the tough dog spiked collar or the jeweled collar that some dogs wear so well.  There are shops that you can take your dog to and try on the different collars for size and style.  That is a fun way to shop for fancy dog collars, and can be helpful in choosing the right collar.  Most will probably agree that your dog needs a variety of collars for different occasions and different purposes ranging for utilitarian to fashionable.
