I went to my local humane society today. I just wanted to go to see all the cute dogs available for adoption. I had never been to this shelter before. It was the cleanest humane society I have ever been to. The staff members were very friendly too. You could tell they really cared about all the dogs just by how healthy and happy all the animals looked. All the dogs had fresh water, clean kennels, rawhides chews, toys, blankets, and dog beds. I commented to one of the staff members about how nice things were there. She informed me that all the items that the dogs have had been donated. Everything that was there was made possible from people helping out animals. Even the collars and leashes they used were donated. If I ever do adopt a dog it will definitely be from the place I visited today. It was refreshing to see people come together to help animals in need.

We love going to the movies but it can be rather expensive for a family of 5. I currently live in Las Vegas but prior to living here I lived in California. We all love going to the movies and had went to the Drive-In Theater in California quite a bit. Well we finally found a Drive-In theater out here in Vegas that is actually close to our house. The weather happened to be cooler last weekend so my family of 5 (which is me, my husband, and our 3 kids) went to the Drive-In on Saturday night. We also took our friends 2 kids as well, so there were 7 of us. We saw a double feature which was GI JOE and then TRANSFORMERS: RISE OF THE FALLEN. We only spent $28 and all 7 of us got to see 2 movies. Now that is way cheaper than going to the regular movie theater. Plus we go to sit outside and we brought our own drinks & snacks. We will definitely be going again in the near future. The next day, Sunday, some of our friends from California who were in town invited us to go swimming at the resort they were staying at. These are friends we met at a Preschool/Day Care that their kids and our kids used to go to out in California when we lived there. They have 3 kids and we have 3 kids. We met them at the resort around 12:30 and the kids swam the whole time we were there. This resort has an awesome pool area. The pool goes up to 4 1/2 feet deep which is perfect for kids and there are 4 different slides the kids and adults can get on and splash into the pool. We left around 5:30 and the kids were so tired. We came home and fixed some homemade pizzas. The kids ate and I went to bed real early and my husband stayed up and put the kids to bed around 10pm or so. We had a really great weekend and hope to go to the Drive-Ins again soon.

My children are the sweetest boys ever. They are smart, kind and funny. They play together, fight also, but will say sorry and start all over again. They invade my space and leave me no privacy, but when they’re not around, I kind of feel this is not right and cannot enjoy my alone-time. I hate it when they interrupt my conversations with an adult but I shine with pride when their comments make the other adult smile. They bug me for hours about spending yet more money on some superhero accessory but I forget all about my credit when they shower me with kisses because “I’m the best mom ever”. This is parenthood and I get it. What I don’t get is this: I know me, I’m miserable most days, I like to be left alone and I don’t like talking. So how did I end up with two chatty, happy-going, belly-laughing kids? They have some kind of magic wand that makes everything ok, where did they get the magic from? Other kids are mean to them, and I go mad, but they don’t care…where did the wisdom from? If I did not vividly recall the painful birth-giving hours, I would swear they’re not mine. But they are, and maybe that’s the parenting secret: our children are us a thousand time improved, and they’re giving us an opportunity to find ourselves again.

Gilmore Girls is a great, wholesome show. It is about a small town in Connecticut where a single mother and daughter live. It is set in a small, tight-knit community. There are many townspeople that are featured in the show. It is very interesting to see the dynamics between all the many people featured on the show. I love the interactions between the characters. The mother/daughter relationship between Lorelei and Rory is unique. The show makes me want to move to Stars Hollow, or a place just like it. It was great to see Rory grow up into a young woman. It feels like I know the characters personally. It is fun to watch even when you have seen the episode many times. This show only has reruns now, but it would be a great idea to have the show come back even as a special reunion shows.

The outfit I am wearing today is slightly preppy and very me. I have on a blue and white striped polo and I have paired it with khaki shorts. It is a very classic look but it can also be functional and very comfortable. I usually spend my days running around doing various tasks so an outfit such as shorts and a tee shirt is perfect. Adding some color and a collar makes it just a little more appropriate in my opinion. I like the way the clothes look on me by covering me up and showing some skin all at the same time. I am also wearing black on black Chuck Taylor high top sneakers. They are also some of the most classic tennis/athletic shoes ever made. I think they go well with my outfit and they also serve in functionality when I am out walking and running errands. My outfit is the perfect classic casual combo.

After a week full of strong and hectic job the weekend is the time where I can relax and cherish. I would like to spend most of the time sleeping. Will go out only in the evening. Last weekend I had gone for shopping with my friends. I had a very long list of apparels and accessories to buy for myself. Shopping is the thing which I would love to do. I can shop hours together but the only thing is I should have enough money in my pocket. I stay along with my friends in a paying guest accommodation. Chatting with friends is as wondrous as we will have nice fun and share interesting moments of the passed out week. So sleeping late and getting late is the regular activity of weekends. In fact I had planned to go to my native last weekend since I didn’t get train tickets to my native place dropped the plan off and started relaxing myself.

Alright, the chicken didn’t walk and there was no bar but I did experience the new grilled KFC chicken last night in my very own dining room. Good stuff. Made me feel like I was eating something healthy even if it’s considered to be “fast food” by some. Mmm… Grilled chicken, mashed potatoes and corn for dinner, then strawberry ice cream for dessert. To me that’s a treat and a feast combined; a “treast”, I guess. My beverage of choice was water; I didn’t want to confuse my taste buds. After dinner I had a nice cup of coffee to which I added a half gallon of cream. Okay, maybe not quite that much cream, but a lot. I like my coffee unrecognizable. Since I quit smoking and can actually taste the flavor of coffee, I’m not all that wild about it so I have to disguise it. (I’d simply quit drinking it but I need the caffeine.) Somehow a simple, yet very yummy, dinner always helps make a long workday seem worthwhile. Of course a nice paycheck helps too but there’s never enough to share with the whole table so I just keep that to myself.

Other than the usual hobbies that most people share like watching Sponge Bob with my grandmother, I have a hobby that sets me apart, I think. When I get off work at the stone quarry I like to use my pets to stage classic movie scenes and then film them to make little movies. For example, I ended up with an Amazon parrot named Mr. Filbert from when I worked at a university. (They were doing hand-rearing experiments and I was allowed to keep one of the parrots when they were done.) I trained Mr. Filbert to scream out “Stella!” and breakdown a little door that I made from Popsicle sticks. I also spent several weeks getting my white short hair cat to dance around like Tom Cruise in Risky Business. I am currently working on a hamster version of The Terminator scene where Arnold says “I’ll be back” complete with a voice over from my parrot. (Please don’t report me for animal cruelty. They really enjoy the attention, I swear.)

Music has always been the best thing that has ever happened to me and is my greatest talent. I sing for one of the coolest bands here that play retro and country music. We practice thrice a week and we perform in various clubs and for private functions like wedding receptions, anniversary and birthday parties, dance nights like Halloween nights, Christmas and new-year balls, valentine day parties etc. Singing for a band is so much fun and is what I want to do for as long as I can. The band pays well, but more than the payment, the joy of singing and growing in music is what I enjoy most. Over the years, I have learnt to save the money I earn and now I am able to pay my own rent, phone bill, vehicle fuel and personal accessories. There is no greater joy than the joy of being able to look after your self.
