Today is just like any other day

So far, today has really been just like any other weekday. Woke up, showered, got ready and came to a job that I don’t really like. Sad. The train wasn’t that full so that was nice, but it really wasn’t much solace considering the 10 hour workday I had ahead of me. I probably shouldn’t have gone out last night and drank that cheap whiskey and beer but eh, cest la vie. I look forward to going home later; I’ve been going out so much lately that I haven’t really had any time to clean my place up. It’s also nice to think about going home to see my cats and just relaxing for one night, with no one around. Maybe watch some TV, play around on the internet, listen to/download some music… So that’s pretty much all I have to say about my day…boring, right? Boring day, but thankfully I don’t have a boring life!

Life with Alyssa

This week my life with my daughter Alyssa has been fast paced and exciting again. Alyssa is 15, is a musician, an actress and a singer. She was in a local play; she played the clown with the tear away face for the Nightmare before Christmas. I worked on costumes for Oogie boogie and the Mayor and of course Alyssa’s costume. The Oogie Boogie costume was a challenge, I thought it would be simple but it was quite difficult. The director wanted the costume in one piece but yet wanted the actress to be able to move about freely and wanted her in a fat suit. Tough to do, but in the end, I decided to leave the bottom open as otherwise it simple did not work. It turned out really good, the play went well, and I also helped with makeup but made the mistake of helping with the elves backstage. Never again. Alyssa keeps me busy with all her performing arts events, but I would not have it any other way.

Mexico in the summer

A few months ago, my girlfriend and I decided to take a weeklong vacation. After a dreary winter, we were drawn to a tropical resort type of vacation, and found a great deal for a week at an all inclusive resort in Playa del Carmen, on the Riviera Maya, just south of Cancun. The resort was recommended to us as been recently built and having great accommodations, service and food. It lived up to all of our expectations! It was a huge resort with hundreds of rooms. We got one with a Jacuzzi, which is one of my favorite activities! There were 7 restaurants as well as the buffet restaurants, and tons of bars with free-flowing tropical drinks. These were very welcome as it was HOT in July in Mexico!!! The hotel had several pools, all of which were warmer than my usual bath! The ocean was delightful though. There were water sports included in the hotel, and some great snorkeling as well.

Weekend with wedding bells

My closest friend Hazel finally got married to the man she was in love with for six long years. It was by far the most beautiful wedding ceremony I had ever seen. They had the wedding in a little town, which was about four hours away from my hometown. I drove up there with a couple of friends two days before the wedding so that we could help with the decorations and other preparations. Everything had to be perfect and it was so much fun because we have been such close friends with both, Hazel and her husband Glen. We even had a little wedding shower for her, a small gathering of close family and friends. Then we gate crashed Glen’s bachelor party, which was such a blast. The weekend was awesome and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The wedding ceremony, even though solemn, was everything a woman could ever dream of having. The theme was cream and gold, the flowers, dresses etc was all so perfect.

Having a hobby is really good

It is a good way to relax and relieve stress. I have a lot of hobbies. I love to sing and dance. Added to that, I am very interested in arts and craft. I love to surf the internet for new ideas either for myself to do or to do with my kids. Cooking is another thing that interests me. Last month I experimented with some Lebanese cooking and believe me, my family loved what I did for them. Ever since I saw the program on making paper from paper on “backyard science” with my kids, I have been meaning to try it. I did not remember the procedure completely but referring the internet I was successful. I had experimented by putting in some grass & flowers. It was really beautiful. Now I will make a card with this paper and send it to a friend who is going to celebrate her golden anniversary. I can’t wait to hear her reaction. I also love to knit and crochet. I have been doing this since I was 10 years old and love to give the articles I made as gifts. I feel really nice when people ask me if I made it.

My day today

My day today – while it is still early – is boring and mundane. I woke up got out of bed 6 minutes after my alarm went off. Made scrambled eggs with cheese and got dressed while watching the news. I then left my apartment and walked for an hour to work (I am an intern. Right now I am sitting at my desk waiting for someone to have something for me to do, so I am working on Mechanical Turk, because I am not getting paid. Later today I have a meeting, so I will have work to do later. Then I will eat the salad I brought for lunch. I will do work in the afternoon and hopefully it will go fast. I will walk home for an hour at 6 after work, eat dinner, go to the gym, work on my resume, read my book, and then go to bed. Like I said, boring and mundane, I can’t wait for the weekend.

Life at a Non-Profit

I have held several full-time jobs since leaving college about 10 years ago, but my current one is definitely my favorite. I work at a music advocacy non-profit in New York City, and I am the project manager for a variety of research projects. There are some really great people here, all of whom are passionate about what they do and music in general. After having some really horrible corporate jobs where people were just out to make money and didn’t care about quality of life, it is really refreshing to be at a place where people want to help others. It is a friendly work environment, where everyone helps each other. It is usually low stress, as we don’t have clients breathing down our necks–our sole mission is to be a support to others. Everyone is always so thankful for our work on their behalf. It’s really a wonderful place to work!

This past week has been great

Just like most other weeks this summer. I have spent the majority of it with my 19 year old daughter. She is between jobs, living at home and taking a few summer college classes. I am not working so I am home all day. I also have a husband and two sons to take care of. One son is away being a camp counselor; the other son has his own place but lives in town. The beautiful part is my daughter and I have had time to do whatever we want to do and get reacquainted. We have done sewing and crafting projects together which is something we both enjoy. We have talked about starting a crafting business together. Who knows whether it will ever get off the ground but it is fun to plan it all out. We also are slowly but surely completing our first big ticket item to sell – a Disney Princess quilt. We have cooked together, planned menus together and shopped together. These are all things I enjoy doing and have enjoyed sharing that love with my only daughter. She has a part time job and a boyfriend so both have separate activities too. But this week, and all summer, has been near perfect for me – the summer with my daughter.

A Delightful Dish at My Dinner

Yesterday we had a party in our office and had a very good dine after that. I’m glad to explain you the things which we had in that dinner. To start with v had a soup in the beginning hot and sour soup as we know it is good appetizer’s should appreciate it’s taste as we went for second round of soup that much tasty it was. Then it’s turn of the starters, as we have an Indian type of dinner (Buffet) we went for Gopi Manchurian. This is nothing but the fried cauliflower.  It was such an elegant starter to go with .then we had our main course chicken fried rice. Hope you know what it is. Actually chicken prices are graved and mixed with rice and slightly fried. This is Chinese type of dish and we had tomato sauce and ketch up along with that. We also had a gray of mutton. It was actually a lamb meat cooked very superbly. We went for more pieces of mutton as it was so soft. Then we had ice cream, Baskin and Robins was served to us. It was a vanilla ice cream and topped with chocolate sauce and cherry pieces. We could have added cashew nut topping but missed that. Then we go for a fresh juice, apple juice and we finished our dinner. You should have also taste such delightful dinner. Hope you enjoy this article.

Shooting Fun

Last weekend, my wife and I went to the gun range for the very first time. We both had never shot guns before. We arrived at the gun range at noon, and the friendly staff checked us out and made sure we had an instructor. I was given a 9mm handgun, and my wife was given a .22 caliber pistol. We put on our “eyes” (glasses for our protection) and “ears” (headsets to protect our ears), and started shooting. We had a great time learning about how guns work, how to aim, how to press down on the trigger, and how to reload. My wife was very good with her .22, and had very good targeting. I had to get use to the recoil of the 9mm, but eventually, I got into a good groove. Overall, we found it to be a great stress reliever and I felt like it was a great experience for a couple. We plan to go back very soon.
