Today is just like any other day

So far, today has really been just like any other weekday. Woke up, showered, got ready and came to a job that I don’t really like. Sad. The train wasn’t that full so that was nice, but it really wasn’t much solace considering the 10 hour workday I had ahead of me. I probably shouldn’t have gone out last night and drank that cheap whiskey and beer but eh, cest la vie. I look forward to going home later; I’ve been going out so much lately that I haven’t really had any time to clean my place up. It’s also nice to think about going home to see my cats and just relaxing for one night, with no one around. Maybe watch some TV, play around on the internet, listen to/download some music… So that’s pretty much all I have to say about my day…boring, right? Boring day, but thankfully I don’t have a boring life!

Life with Alyssa

This week my life with my daughter Alyssa has been fast paced and exciting again. Alyssa is 15, is a musician, an actress and a singer. She was in a local play; she played the clown with the tear away face for the Nightmare before Christmas. I worked on costumes for Oogie boogie and the Mayor and of course Alyssa’s costume. The Oogie Boogie costume was a challenge, I thought it would be simple but it was quite difficult. The director wanted the costume in one piece but yet wanted the actress to be able to move about freely and wanted her in a fat suit. Tough to do, but in the end, I decided to leave the bottom open as otherwise it simple did not work. It turned out really good, the play went well, and I also helped with makeup but made the mistake of helping with the elves backstage. Never again. Alyssa keeps me busy with all her performing arts events, but I would not have it any other way.

Mexico in the summer

A few months ago, my girlfriend and I decided to take a weeklong vacation. After a dreary winter, we were drawn to a tropical resort type of vacation, and found a great deal for a week at an all inclusive resort in Playa del Carmen, on the Riviera Maya, just south of Cancun. The resort was recommended to us as been recently built and having great accommodations, service and food. It lived up to all of our expectations! It was a huge resort with hundreds of rooms. We got one with a Jacuzzi, which is one of my favorite activities! There were 7 restaurants as well as the buffet restaurants, and tons of bars with free-flowing tropical drinks. These were very welcome as it was HOT in July in Mexico!!! The hotel had several pools, all of which were warmer than my usual bath! The ocean was delightful though. There were water sports included in the hotel, and some great snorkeling as well.

Weekend with wedding bells

My closest friend Hazel finally got married to the man she was in love with for six long years. It was by far the most beautiful wedding ceremony I had ever seen. They had the wedding in a little town, which was about four hours away from my hometown. I drove up there with a couple of friends two days before the wedding so that we could help with the decorations and other preparations. Everything had to be perfect and it was so much fun because we have been such close friends with both, Hazel and her husband Glen. We even had a little wedding shower for her, a small gathering of close family and friends. Then we gate crashed Glen’s bachelor party, which was such a blast. The weekend was awesome and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The wedding ceremony, even though solemn, was everything a woman could ever dream of having. The theme was cream and gold, the flowers, dresses etc was all so perfect.
